LEGENDARY DEFENDER CAPABILITY REIMAGINED
For over seven decades, Defender has challenged what’s possible.
Today, our most capable SUVs are enhanced with electric power. The same ‘go anywhere’ attitude, with improved levels of refinement, responsiveness and performance.
ELECTRIC HYBRID (PHEV)
Our electric hybrid Defender uses a battery powered electric motor with a petrol engine. It can be charged at home or using a wide network of public chargers and can be driven in either fully electric EV mode or Hybrid mode.
MILD HYBRID (MHEV)
Our mild hybrid Defender’s petrol and diesel engines work in harmony with an electric motor. Regenerative braking captures and converts the energy generated when slowing down and braking to optimise battery range without the need to plug in.
DRIVING AN ELECTRIC HYBRID DEFENDER
Experience robust power and enhanced efficiency.
EV MODE
Perfect for commuting through urban areas or completing short journeys. Select EV mode and enjoy a near-silent driving experience with zero tailpipe emissions.

HYBRID MODE
In hybrid mode the electric motor and engine work together in harmony, providing enhanced performance. Your default driving mode automatically selects between the petrol engine and electric battery to give you the power you need for your journey.

CHARGING TECHNOLOGY
Our battery technology allows you to use some of the fastest public chargers. Regenerative braking charges the battery by collecting energy created through deceleration.

CHARGING AN ELECTRIC HYBRID DEFENDER
AT HOME AND ON THE GO
Charge from the comfort of your home with a domestic plug socket or a home charger. As easy as plugging in your phone, this is the most convenient and often cheapest way to charge. While travelling, you benefit from the rapidly-growing public charging network and rapid DC charging.
PREFERRED HOME CHARGING SUPPLIERS
A professionally installed home charger is the fastest way to charge from home. Before you purchase your Defender, our preferred home charging suppliers will help you check whether your property is suitable for installation.

UNWAVERING CAPABILITY
TOWING
Exceptional towing capabilities are in the Defender DNA, now powered by our electric engines. With an electric hybrid you can tow anything up to 3,000kg1.
WADING
Confidently tackle any terrain, with impressive ground clearance and wading capability. Our electric hybrid Defenders have a maximum wading capacity of up to 900mm2.
†† Fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and EV Range figures are determined by testing under standardised laboratory conditions and to comply with ADR 81/02 and ADR 79/04. These figures should only be used for the purpose of comparison amongst vehicles. Actual figures will generally differ under real world driving conditions and will vary depending on factors such as (but not limited to) driving style, vehicle’s equipment and road, traffic, and weather condition.
†† The figures provided are NEDC calculated from official manufacturer’s tests. Figures may vary according to environment and driving style. For comparison purposes only. Real world figures may differ.
‡Charging times will vary dependent on many factors, including: the age, condition, temperature and existing charge of the battery; facility used and duration of charge.
1Towing and wading will substantially affect EV range.
2Always check route and exit before wading.
