A LUNAR NEW YEAR WITH MELISSA JI
Over the years, Lunar New Year celebrations have become entrenched within Australian culture.
From the preparations to the festivities, it’s a time like no other, where around
2 billion people across the globe observe historically rich customs, traditions and beliefs.
As we look forward to this year’s celebrations and begin to usher in what will be the Year of the Dragon, we took the time to have a Q&A session with Melissa Ji, who has been celebrating the Lunar New Year all her life.
How do you and your family typically celebrate LNY?
My childhood memory of Lunar New Year is all about ice and snow, fireworks, and homemade dumplings. The traditional New Year’s meal took a couple of days to prepare. On New Year’s Eve, all family members would gather together to make dumplings. My grandmother would leave a gold coin in one of the dumplings, and whoever got that 'gold coin dumpling' was considered the luckiest person!
How has the Range Rover Sport supported your celebrations?
Festival celebrations are all about gathering together, endless happiness, and heartfelt blessings. I am very lucky to celebrate Lunar New Year with Range Rover Sport; the colour red is believed to bring a lot of luck. The spacious and luxurious driving experience certainly marks the best start of the Year of the Dragon.
What are you gifting your loved ones this LNY?
Many hotel bookings and travel experiences to enjoy in the coming year!
