LEGO® CLASSIC DEFENDER 90 CELEBRATES SIGNIFICANT MILESTONE
As Land Rover clocks up 75 years of epic all-terrain adventures, this milestone is being celebrated with another iconic brand. The LEGO Group and Defender are marking the occasion with the new LEGO® Icons Classic Land Rover Defender 90. This build-your-own-adventure set features 2,336 pieces and all the accessories needed for a memorable off-road expedition.
Reflecting the Defender’s unique record of adventure, humanitarian aid and unstoppable performance, builders can create the vehicle as an everyday road-ready model or customise it for the most challenging adventures.
Measuring an impressive 32cm, the Defender LEGO model comes with accessories including a roof rack raised air intake, front bumper with working winch, side rails and toolbox, along with traction plates for crossing mud and sand. It also has working steering and suspension, opening doors and bonnet, and an interior with details based on the full-size Classic Defender. The set has been designed so you can push it to the limits, just like the real life Defender.
THE HARDEST-TO-REACH LEGO STORE IN THE WORLD
Befitting such a capable and durable vehicle, the set was launched by the LEGO group in the Scottish Highlands. A real Classic Defender was used to house the hardest-to-reach LEGO Store in the world. Adventurers Raha Moharrak and Aldo Kane were pitted against one another as they raced to be the first to find and build the new set. Find out who triumphed by watching the film at lego.com/Defender.
LEGO Design Master Kurt Kristiansen said that bringing the Classic Defender to life was no easy feat, but they wanted to infuse the set with the Defender’s go-anywhere sense of adventure. Paul Barritt, Director of Land Rover Classic, noted, “Defender is synonymous with adventure and this new LEGO set is a perfect way to capture the spirit of an incomparable, unstoppable automotive icon, whilst also sharing the playful side of the vehicle.”
The LEGO Icons Classic Land Rover Defender 90 set is available now on www.LEGO.com/Defender and LEGO Stores, and from 1st July through Land Rover retail channels, priced at $369.99 in Australia.
