Glastonbury, one of the world's most renowned music festivals, is a mecca for music lovers from around the globe. Known for its colossal scale, diverse lineup, and rich history, the festival draws hundreds of thousands of attendees each year. This year, Defender Ambassador Sam Evans had the unique opportunity to experience Glastonbury in an extraordinary way, courtesy of Defender. Sam Evans is celebrated for his work with leading brands and a prominent figure in the digital content creation arena. We sat down with Sam to hear about his adventure at Camp Defender.

Coming from Australia, what was your initial impression of Glastonbury?

Coming from Australia, where our largest festival hosts 30,000 people, the scale of Glastonbury with 280,000 attendees this year was awe-inspiring. The immense organization and sense of history were unparalleled. Experiencing it with a brand like Defender elevated the entire event. The attention to detail and level of hospitality during my time with Defender at Glastonbury was exceptional.

What was the most memorable part of the Defender X Glastonbury experience?

The most memorable part was undoubtedly the Camp itself. From the luxurious glamping tents with proper beds, amenities, and power/wifi, to the lounge area with a bar, restaurant, and BBQ taco grill from the amazing Simon Stallard, every detail was impeccable. The Spa Tent with hot tubs and a "glam zone" to get ready each day was a festival experience like no other. Each day, Defender Hybrids were on standby to drop us in and out, taking us through the back entrance of the festival straight to the main stage. It was the full VIP treatment!

What did your daily routine look like at Defender Camp?

Being a music festival, we were naturally out quite late every night. Waking up each day in my beautiful bell tent, taking a proper shower, and enjoying slow-roasted tomato Bloody Marys and tacos from Simon Stallard in the sun while recapping the night before was an amazing experience.

Which amazing artists did you see perform?

With 109 stages across 900 acres of festival grounds, we were spoiled for choice. The scale of the site meant making tough decisions on who to see. One of my favourite live acts was 'Jungle'. Seeing nine people on stage, perfectly replicating the sound from their album, with the flags of Glastonbury floating above the crowd like kites, created a truly special moment. Being an electronic music fan, seeing 'Disclosure' was a bucket list moment, especially with them playing to a home crowd. One great aspect of Glastonbury was stumbling upon new artists. I found numerous new favourites that I had never heard of before.

What do you find to be the most unique feature about the Meridian sound system in the Defenders?

For me, the sound system in a car can make or break a journey. There's nothing better than being on an adventure with your favourite music blasting as the soundtrack to your life. A good sound system is one where, even at full volume, there are no rattles or crackles. The Meridian passes this test with flying colours. The most unique feature has to be the "Meridian Surround" setting, which optimizes music for the speaker array, creating a truly immersive experience and making you feel like you're in the studio with the artist.
