RANGE ROVER HOUSE, ORPHEUS ISLAND: A CELEBRATION OF COASTAL LUXURY
We recently sat down with our lead interior stylist for Range Rover House Orpheus Island, @stevecordony, to discuss summer styling. Steve is an internationally renowned interior stylist from Sydney, brining is extensive experience and talent to the table. Steve has worked across a range of areas in the design industry, where his expertise has seen him create stunning events and interiors for both personal and corporate clients such as Lancôme, Ralph Lauren, Waterford, Georg Jensen and of course, Range Rover.
What was the most special moment of Range Rover House, Orpheus Island?
My favourite moment from Range Rover House Orpheus Edition was seeing the guests arriving to the island on that boat, with the live music playing in the background, with the sun setting over the incredible Great Barrier Reef. That moment embodied the intangible element of joy and glamour that the entire event represented.
What are your top three summer styling tips for creating a cool and comfortable interior space?
The simplest way to bring life into the home is by connecting the outdoors to the interior with plants, foliage, and floral. A home should always be filled with texture and layers, especially during summer. Think linen, organic vessels, timber, and natural stone. These can be brought in with interchangeable styling elements like cushions, throws, trays, vases, and sculptures. Each season, I change my bedroom linen. Linen is always my go-to in Summer.
How do you incorporate Range Rover's luxurious design elements into your interior styling projects?
Every interior or design I create starts with a story, and the symbiosis between heritage, design, and modern luxury is embodied within the story of Range Rover and also the interiors I create. Luxury details always make their mark, including shape and form, materiality, and the contrast between finishes. These design principles I incorporate into every story.
What are some must-have accessories for a stylish and functional summer interior?
Statement ceramic vases or vessels, a fresh natural scent (candle, diffuser, etc.), linen bedlinen, and metallic accents (candle holders, coasters, barware).
What are your go-to materials and textures for creating a light and airy summer atmosphere?
Timber, marble, linen, tan leather, travertine, and rattan.
What trends do you see emerging in interior styling this summer, and how can Range Rover owners incorporate them into their homes or vehicles?
For me, a well-considered home that feels light and airy is all about well editing. Using canisters, vessels, trays, and trinket boxes to house and showcase accessories and objects creates tailoring within the home. If you're like me, I have organised moments in my car, from the glove box with organic wipes, first aid, and ‘bits and bobs,’ to the boot where I keep my ‘beach express’ bag with a towel, swimmers, SPF, slides, and a spare change of clothes.
What is the colour of the season, and how can they be integrated into your home?
Any shade of blue! In particular, blue/grey but also mixed with rich navy. Accent your space with cushions, artwork, rugs, bedlinen, and even the colour of books you style your vignettes.
